The Executive Director’s Summer Reading Challenge has had another successful year with over 620 students reading 10,000 books over the school holidays – that’s a new competition record!

The competition closed on 6 February and four winners have been drawn at random, winning an iPad Mini. Congratulations to:

Age 5-8 category
Andrea Clouston from Mary Immaculate Primary, Quakers Hill
Tyler Carabetta from St Madeleine's Primary, Kenthurst

Age 9+ category
Lachlan Urschel from Holy Family Primary, Luddenham
Cheryl Kumar from Nagle College, Blacktown South

Congratulations to all students who participated by reading at least 10 books over the summer holidays.

St Bernadette’s Primary School in Castle Hill had the highest number of participants with 57 students taking part.

Many of our students exceeded the target and read dozens of books over the holidays, with a few students reading over 100 books! Sebastian and Claudia Sammut from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Primary, Wentworthville read an astounding 109 books and 223 books respectively. Aryan Roy from Our Lady of Lourdes Primary, Baulkham Hills South read 170 books - also an extraordinary effort.

Executive Director Greg Whitby said it is wonderful to see so many students being inspired to read their favourite books over the school holidays.

‘The Summer Reading Challenge encourages students to read for enjoyment and I’m proud of all our participating students for making this year’s competition the biggest to date.’

All students who took part in the competition will receive participation certificates at school in coming weeks. The competition will run again next Summer, opening in the final weeks of Term 4.
