One of our students in Year 6, Ivan Farkas was recently announced as a 2018 Tropfest Jr film festival finalist. Ivan who spent his weekends over a month long period to create his short film was shocked and excited to find out the good news because he didn’t think he would make the shortlist.
“My family are really excited and proud of me” says Ivan. “My entire family will be going to the finals. When I found out I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone, not even my friends until they announced the finalists”.
The big announcement was made on the 31st of January. A major rule of Tropfest is that no one can neither view the movie, nor know the details of it until it is viewed on the night.
Ivan had entered three different film competitions previously, but this is his first time being nominated as an award finalist. And it is for Tropfest none the less. To make his film, Ivan used a webcam and his Aunt’s gaming PC along with some props.
St Andrew’s Primary will have to organise a VIP viewing for our students after the awards night which will be held in Parramatta on the 17th February.
SAPS wishes Ivan every success on the night!
